Push-Ups in a Tree

Thank you to Evelyn Cushing, for donating to Stop Soldier Suicide, an organization that works with veterans and active duty soldiers to deal with issues like PTSD and to reduce the elevated rate of suicide among those groups. Ev suggested doing push-ups in a tree. Although she said this in jest, I found a good tree. 🙂

Here you go, Ev & thanks again!

Remember, if you donate to an organization like Stop Soldier Suicide and post me something acknowledging the donation, I’ll do 22 push-ups (sometimes more) in return, in some sort of entertaining way. Push-Ups Covered With Hermit Crabs!

Thanks you to George and Mary Clark, for donating to the Veteran’s Writing Project, an organizations that helps veterans find strength and healing through storytelling. Thank you so much, guys!

Mary requested a crustacean-themed set of push-ups, which was a challenging request to fulfill. Recently, however, Jordan & I discovered a stretch of beach near us, that teems with hermit crabs during the night. So Mary, George, we give you: push-ups with a bucket full of hermit crabs!

As a reminder, if you donate to an organization like the Veteran’s Writing Project and post me something acknowledging the donation, I’ll do 22 push-ups (sometimes more) in return, in some sort of entertaining way. Push-Ups on a Surfboard!

Happy birthday to Sylvie Schlein & thank you so much for your donation to Stop Soldier Suicide! Today’s a big one for Sylvie, she turns….21!! 😉

I figured that it’s not everyday that some turns 21 twice and it’s not everyday that someone does push-ups on a surfboard. Today almost wasn’t that day, but I managed to pull it off, looking pretty ridiculous and with some very amused spectators on the beach. Thanks again, Sylvie and happy birthday from La Saladita, Mexico!

Slow Push-Ups

Ein großer Dank to Alex Lachmann, for his donation to Stop Soldier Suicide, an organization that works to reduce the elevated rate of suicide among veterans and active duty soldiers. As I’m down in Mexico living the slow life, Alex suggested slow push-ups. Wish granted, Alex – prepare for the most boring set of push-ups you’ve ever watched.

Siesta Push-Ups

Thanks Andrew Philips, for donating both to the National Alliance to End Veteran Suicide AND to Stop Soldier Suicide, two organizations that work to reduce the elevated rate of suicide among veterans and active duty soldiers. A former paratrooper, Andrew also went above and beyond, by subscribing to a monthly donation to the National Alliance to End Veteran Suicide. As we say in the airborne, ALL THE WAY!!

In return and because it’s siesta time here in Mexico, I do extra push-ups underneath my wife Jordan, while she rests in the hammock. Thanks again, Andrew!

Push-Ups on Our Car

Much thanks to Ryan Ly, for donating to Stop Soldier Suicide, an organization that works with veterans and active duty soldiers to deal with issues like PTSD and to reduce the elevated rate of suicide among those groups. Thanks, Ryan!

In return, I do push-ups on Taiga, our Subaru Forester that we are driving from NYC to Ushuaia, Patagonia.

PUsh-Ups While Drinking Beer!

A big thanks to Federico Giorgi, for donating to Stop Soldier Suicide!
Although Fede suggested doing 22 shots of liquor, rather than 22 push-ups, I doubt that I can survive half that. In an attempt to accommodate the request, however, I do push-ups while drinking beer out of a straw. The straw technique, as you will see, required some practice…Thanks Federico!

I made the tactical decision to do this one right after doing push-ups for Rob Schipano, for whom I pushed while eating hot sauce. Robañero is some spicy stuff and I figured that the beer would help put out the ulcer forming in my stomach. =P

Push-ups on Rocks Amidst Waves

A big thank you to my parents, for donating to Stop Soldier Suicide, an organization that labors to reduce the high rate of suicide among active duty soldiers and veterans. My folks suggested something tranquil for the push-ups that I would do in return, so here are 22 push-ups on some rocks on the beach in Troncones, Mexico. Thanks guys & enjoy!

Push-Ups Underwater!

Laura Munteanu generously donated to the National Alliance to End Veteran Suicide, an organization that works to do exactly what its name says it does. Thank you, Laura!

In return, I do push-ups underwater!

Sort of. I found this to be much harder than I thought it would be and so this post comes with outtakes. 🙂 Normally, I try to just do one take and if it’s not perfect, so be it. But after failing to make the push-ups work a couple times and then laughing at the ridiculousness of those attempts, Jordan and I  decided that the outtakes were what really made this effort. The bartender near the pool also got a good laugh out of watching us film this. Enjoy!

Take 1: Is this thing on?

Take 2: I guess I just assumed that I would be able to get on all fours at the bottom of the pool? Maybe I don’t understand water…

Take 3: Try grabbing onto something, grapple with the fact that I’m (fortunately) not a sinker.

Take 4: Instead of push-ups, grab onto the sides of the steps leading into the pool and do some sort of pull-down in an uncomfortably sexual-looking way. Really sorry about that… =P  Run out of breath at 11 pull-downs, call it good.

Thanks again, Laura! This was fun to make.
